Why broken links matter
Broken links send visitors to error pages, waste the authority a page passes to others and make a site look neglected. Search engines also spend crawl time on pages that no longer exist.
How to fix broken links
- Internal links: update the link to the right page, or add a 301 redirect from the old URL.
- External links: replace them with a working source or remove them.
- Redirected links: point them straight at the final URL to save a hop.

Why does a working site show as an error?
Some sites block automated checks and return 403 or 429. Open those links yourself to confirm.
